Independence Day here we come

Well we’re just a couple of days away from setting off on our second American holiday this year – and we’re sitting with feet up working on our two laptops, and watching a dismal England getting stuffed by Germany (2-0 after 32 minutes – not over yet, but no real sign that England can do anything this afternoon).

Cases are almost packed.  We’ve been doing some gardening on what started off as a grey and windy day but is now quite sunny.

Joy’s at work, probably still full of herself from stage dooring last night – we went to see Joseph and his Amazing Multi-coloured Dream Coat – a touring production which has been going round the UK over the last few years.  Joy has been talking to Joseph (a young Scot called Craig Chalmers) over the last three days when he was coming into her shop.  We went round to the stage door after the show – she was the only one there after his autograph / photograph with her.  He signed for her, posed with her, and then said "See you in the shop" – she was delighted to be acknowledged.

The football has livened up – England scored and then were denied a goal which clearly bounced down from the bar and was over the line.

Tuesday we leave the island – easy day in Manchester – visiting Pam’s Mum and Dad for a long lunch and then visiting friends for a little while in the evening.  Overnight at the Radisson at Manchester Airport and then a flipping early start – 7:15 flight to Heathrow and then off to Boston and the Red Sox that evening.

Go Sox!
